LGBTQ+ Therapy

Therapy where you don't have to explain who you are before you can begin.

Finding a therapist shouldn't mean wondering whether you'll have to educate them about your identity, defend your relationships, or decide how much of yourself feels safe to share.

Whether you're exploring your identity, navigating relationships, processing difficult experiences, or simply looking for support from someone who understands the unique challenges LGBTQ+ people often face, therapy can be a place where every part of you is welcome.

My goal is to create a space where your identity is understood as part of your story, not treated as the problem to solve.

Therapy beyond affirmation

Feeling accepted matters. Feeling understood matters even more.

Being LGBTQ+ doesn't mean every challenge you're facing is about your identity, but it also doesn't mean your identity can be separated from the way you experience relationships, family, work, community, or the world around you.

Together, we'll explore the concerns that brought you to therapy while honoring the ways your lived experiences shape those concerns. Sometimes that means processing discrimination or rejection. Other times it means working through anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, or life transitions that anyone might experience.

You deserve therapy that sees your whole life, not just one part of it.

I may be a good fit if you’re…

  • Exploring your sexual orientation or gender identity.

  • Coming out or navigating life after coming out.

  • Building confidence in who you are.

  • Healing from rejection, shame, or religious trauma.

  • Navigating relationships, dating, or intimacy.

  • Processing family conflict or estrangement.

  • Looking for LGBTQ+-affirming relationship counseling.

  • Exploring polyamory, consensual non-monogamy, or kink.

  • Managing anxiety, burnout, or life transitions.

  • Simply wanting a therapist who understands LGBTQ+ experiences without making them the focus of every session.

My approach

My work is relational, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity. I don't believe therapy should be about fitting people into expectations of what their identity should look like. Instead, we'll explore your experiences, relationships, values, and goals together.

Some sessions may focus on identity. Others may have nothing to do with being LGBTQ+ at all. Therapy is guided by what matters most to you, not by assumptions about what should matter.

Whether we're exploring past experiences, strengthening relationships, building self-trust, or navigating difficult decisions, my goal is to help you feel more connected to yourself and more intentional in the life you're creating.

A space that welcomes the full spectrum of LGBTQ+ experiences

I work with individuals across the LGBTQ+ community, including people who are:

  • Aromantic

  • Asexual

  • Bisexual

  • Lesbian

  • Gay

  • Gender-expansive

  • Nonbinary

  • Pansexual

  • Queer

  • Questioning

  • Transgender

I also recognize that no two LGBTQ+ experiences are the same. Your identity intersects with your culture, relationships, faith, family, profession, race, disability, and countless other parts of your life. Therapy should make room for that complexity.

Common reasons people seek LGBTQ+ therapy

People come to therapy with me for many different reasons, including:

  • Identity exploration

  • Anxiety or depression

  • Trauma and complex trauma

  • Relationship concerns

  • Dating and intimacy

  • Family relationships

  • Religious trauma

  • Workplace stress

  • Self-esteem

  • Life transitions

  • Community and belonging

Sometimes there isn't a crisis at all. Many people simply want a place where they can better understand themselves and continue growing.

Ready to get started?

You deserve a therapist who sees your identity as one part of your story rather than something that needs to be explained, defended, or changed.

If you're looking for a collaborative, affirming space to explore whatever life is bringing your way, I'd be happy to talk with you about whether we're a good fit.
